The Foundation’s interests are developed as a result of Trustee field visits and reports from consultants. Grants are usually made to help an organization address an important community-wide concern or a critical issue, or to achieve a broad impact for the public’s benefit, rather than to meet routine needs. Applicants should demonstrate how a proposed program will advance the mutual goals and interests of the applicant and the Foundation.

Board of Trustees

Andrew C. Bailey, Grace Fey, Robert W. Holmes, Jr.,
and Celina E. Miranda (representing Bank of New York Mellon)

Douglas Danner died on March 29, 2008, after serving as a trustee of the
Mabel Louise Riley Foundation for more than 28 years. His continuing
contributions to the Foundation for almost three decades will be greatly
missed as will his close friendship to the remaining trustees.

Grace Fey was appointed as successor trsutee to Mr. Danner by the
Middlesex Probate Court on May 28, 2008. She brings to the
Foundation significant investment experience as well as extensive
knowledge of the needs of nonprofit organizations in Massachusetts.
